OMG! OMG! OMG!

Tonight is Hannah Montana! We are like, so totally freaked out with excitement!

Actually, considering that the tickets right now are worth more than a backyard filled with crude oil, the girls are rather blasé about it. There are parents out there who are shaving their heads and publicly humiliating themselves for this concert and our kids are so like, whatever.

That's okay, I'm psyched. Honestly, as far as teen-pop queens that were manufactured for television shows go, Hannah isn't bad. Even somewhat enjoyable. Gert and Matilda know every word. Sometimes I find Gert sitting on the floor of her room, between her bed and dresser, quietly singing along with a look on her face that says, "Yeah, man. If we were a movie. Totally." Gert wants to be Miley Cyrus' best friend.

I have no idea where she gets that. (David Byrne, call me. We'll do an awkward lunch.)

I can't wait to see the faces when Hannah hits the stage. Or Miley. Whomever she appears as first. That will be priceless.

And then I shall lose my hearing as 15,000 pre-teen girls shriek.

  1. i want to be cynical about this. but i know that my girls are going to be just as excited about 2015's equivilent to hannah montana. anyway, you can't argue with a house setup that includes a parent's bar.

I have to say, Mike, it was pretty darn hard to be cynical even at the concert. For what she is, the music is pretty darn listenable. With Radio Disney playing here non-stop, I've heard some real crap. Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers are pretty solid for teen pop.

Besides, ever since I've been a father, I've sworn I will never be the guy who rails on the kids' music. I want them to feel free to explore their interests and they've always known that I can find what they want and I'll support it.

That being said, hearing the kids cheering for Billy Ray Cyrus when he came out to sit in the audience ... that was hard to reconcile in my mind.

Off-topic, I know, but I'm not sure you received my last email.

Would you be interested in a
Le Tour France 1992 t-shirt? I have no idea if it's authentic, but it's yours if you want it.

  4. Jane, I did get an email from you when we were talking about editing and what not. Then something happened with work, I forgot to respond and I have no idea where the email is. I think the Internet ate it.

Anyway, I'd love a Tour t-shirt. Especially from 1992 and even if it's not authentic!
