I know someone who might have bought something today. It will arrive sometime next week when I'll get fitted and pick it up. Plus I bought an extra wheel and cassette so I can use the trainer on nasty weather days.
I feel giddy. I almost bought a Fassa Bortolo jersey because a) it was there and b) because I was drunk with buying. But I didn't. Why? Because it would make me sad thinking about Giancarlo Ferretti. Yeah, I know. You're sad too.
Beautiful. It's absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBut for a cyclocross bike you don't want a white/silver jersey. Get something that doesn't show mud stains. Get something red...really red...Specialized Red. Or a CSC jersey or Rabobank...they do a lot of cyclocross.
This will sound weird, but I don't feel worthy of a CSC jersey. With the wing images on the shoulders and the stomach armor . . . Way too cool. I did buy a CSC team t-shirt though.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love my LBS, their clothing prices are out of control. So I took advantage of Performance Bike's online winter clearance sale and got a bunch of jerseys, shorts and some new gloves. Oddly, I tend to mine a red/royal blue combo for some reason. Even my jacket is blue.
I have a thing for defunct team jerseys, I have to admit. I just drool over them. My dream is to be tooling around in a Team Z kit. Now that would be cool.
I forgot to add, thank you for the initial reccomendation on the bike. I looked at and tested just about every cross bike in my range and it always came back to the Specialized. Ultimately, it just felt right. I know there are a few store managers who are going to be happy that I'm not going to be coming in and touching bikes anymore.
ReplyDeleteI usually feel the same way about wearing pro stuff btu I just dig the Bjarne Riis method and the number of careers he's resurrected so a LBS had one on sale and I got it. I only wear it on solo training rides so no one things I'm showing off.
ReplyDeleteI did the Performance thing for a long time until I started buying local shop/club/team jerseys as I raced/rode for the teams or clubs. I ride in those almost exclusively now and I always feel really great promoing the local shop in Macon of Little Five Points. I did have to get a cool Specialized jersey too. I seem to ride really fast in that one.
No worries abobut the help. I'm glad I could make a recommendation that was useful. I've always like Specialized's products and I hope you do to. I do think they should start sending me kickbacks for the number of people I've sold bikes to or talking into looking at a Specialized rig.
Be sure to post how your first ride goes. I'm dying to hear (read??).
