P.S.

I miss my bike. It's been in the shop undergoing a comprehensive rebuild trying to chase down the mess ups the originating bike shop incorporated during the initial build. Let's just say that the shop I bought it from did a rather sloppy job on building the bike in the first place. I finally decided to have it rebuilt so I could stop bringing the bike into the shop to repack my bottom bracket or chase down other weird things that shouldn't be happening.

I miss it. Not that I could ride right now without the ability to breathe without coughing. Or, really, without being able to breathe through my nose at all.

It would be nice, however, if my wife didn't walk around the house pushing her bike all day long. She eats with it, does the dishes with it . . . It's just rude. She even took it out to dinner last night.

Oooooo.....that's gotta hurt. That's why it pays to have more than one bike. As long as you can handle the bike to bike jealousy you never have to be lonely.

See? That's exactly what I've been telling my wife. I need two bikes. The cross is good for some days and a good, sturdy road bike would be great for others. And, when one is being taken care of, the other can be in service. I'm just thinking off the top of my head here, but an Orbea Vuelta with Ultegra upgrades and a different crank set than stock would work just fine.

But, like I said, I haven't given it any thought at all. I certainly have never sat on said bike in a retail outlet.

Anyway, it's been okay that I don't have the bike (coming home today). I could use the time off the bike plus, this cold is kicking my butt. Perhaps I need some salbutamol.

Oh, definitely. You have asthma right? I'm sure you have some Spanish blood in you somewhere. Just go to your doctor and tell him that you feel like you have to breath harder than some of the other guys when climbing mountians and I'm sure, if he's a Spanish cycling doctor, that he'll determine that you must have asthma and that you'll need a concoction of lung opening decongestants and steroids to help you out.

Also, you don't want an Orbea...you want a Cervelo. You know you do. Give in to your desire. Together you can rule the universe and bring peace and order. It is your destiny...

Are you kidding me? Hell yeah I want a Cervelo. I just can't afford a Cervelo. Oh, sure, I could get a Soloist for a few hundred more than the Orbea. But I'd still have to sell one of the kids.

In fact, there are far too many bikes I want. Some I just want to touch once. Fondle is probably a better word. Cycling is, after all, an extension of my geekdom. Carbon fibers? Satellite tracking and measurement? Weight to power ratios? Power output? Space shuttle or road bike?

Of course my Spanish physician would prescribe better things if I were on a Spanish bike, would he not?

    Just realized . . . I'm Diabetic. I'm already on a banned substance.
